Roads at Ravenscraig set for major investment

Ravenscraig’s roads and transport infrastructure is set to be transformed after receiving significant funding from the Glasgow City Region Deal.

A £190million roads programme which will see the M74 south connected with the M80 north was recently approved by the Glasgow City Region cabinet.

Improving connectivity at Ravenscraig is a key priority of the developers at the site and the planned infrastructure will make the site more enticing for investors.

Nick Davies, director at Ravenscraig Ltd, said: “Our ambition is to attract further investment into Ravenscraig as we continue to regenerate the former steelworks. Key to those plans is having first class infrastructure in place, something seen as essential by businesses.

“This ambitious scheme will transform the site and I have no doubt it will enhance the ongoing regeneration work. It will also have significant benefits for those already living at Ravenscraig and further afield, making the site a more attractive place to live, work and play.”

Around 6,700 jobs are projected to be created by the investment, benefiting the local economy by £360million.
